Department of Paediatrics from MGM Medical College Nerul participated in Autism Day .

As part of this day Paediatrics faculty Dr. Prashant Weekey (Asst Prof) , Dr. Harish Jadhav (Asst Prof), Dr. Kamran Dalwai(SR) , Dr. Sarah Iqra(Tutor), Dr. Arika Pareek(Tutor) visited Swami Bhahmanand Pratishthan School in Sector 8 Belapur on 16/04/2025 from 10 am to 12 pm .

It is a school for special children where the diagnosed cases of Down’s syndrome , Autism, Intellectual Disease , Cerebral Palsy are being taken care of.

Age groups of 5 to 18 years + are being enrolled here.

The children are taught in small groups and these groups are divided based on their developmental quotient.

The diagnoses roughly included 20 kids of Downs Syndrome ,10 Autism kids, 2 Cerebral Palsy kids , 5 to 6 Intellectual diseases kids.

Brief general physical examination , systemic examination was done on the children .

Reference was given to MGM Hospital for further screening of problems which remained unevaluated previously .

Multivitamin supplements given to the children who showed poor growth .

It was a moment filled with emotions and empathy talking to these children. The kids were being taken care of very nicely . It is hard to find such love and care otherwise these days .

It was an interactive session between our faculty and the staff of the school which comprised mainly of the teachers and occupational therapist .

The bond between the staff of school with the children knew no bounds . An excellent example for our society . We must nurture such values in everyone .
